Field Trip Description: Ward Island Pass, Caribbean Drive in Flour Bluff, Encinal Peninsula, Yorktown Lake at the Mud Bridge, and Oso Wetlands Preserve, all located in the Corpus Christi Area.

Registration required one week in advance (by February 6th). Minimum for the trip is 3 participants. NOTE THAT CURRENTLY FIELD TRIPS ARE OPEN TO ALL INTERESTED PARTIES.

NOTIFY OUR FIELD TRIP LEADER, GENE BLACKLOCK, THAT YOU PLAN TO GO ON THIS FIELD TRIP. TEXT GENE AT 361-558-1829 AND PROVIDE YOUR NAME(S) AND CELL PHONE NUMBER(S).

Group Meets: Field Trip Group will meet at 7:00 AM at Ward Island Pass area on the West side of the bridge on Ocean Drive that runs between Texas A&M - Corpus Christi (on Ward Island) and the Naval Air Station (on the Encinal Peninsula).

Second stop will be along Caribbean Drive on the Flour Bluff side of Encinal Peninsula.

Third stop is Yorktown Lake (at the junction of Yorktown Blvd., immediately west of Flour Bluff Drive, immediately east of the Mud Bridge that crosses over Oso Creek..

Rest Stop / Bathroom Break: Whataburger, Flour Bluff, 1121 Waldron Road

Final stop, Oso Wetlands Preserve, 2446 North Oso Parkway, Corpus Christi.

Comment: Please car pool if possible. (Parking along Caribbean Drive is somewhat stressful. Be especially careful walking along this road).  

MATERIALS TO HAVE AVAILABLE: Scope, binoculars, comfortable hiking shoes, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent (especially for chiggers & mosquitoes). Always be on the look out for fire ants. Be sure to bring water.

OPTIONAL: a Bird Field Guide or Bird ID apps.
